What Our Participants Are Saying
I participated in two week-long Restorative Justice (RJ) and Advanced Restorative Justice trainings through ASCA's Gehring Academy, where Dr. Dixon was one of my faculty members. I am incredibly grateful for Dr. Dixon's leadership and expertise, and I wholeheartedly recommend his RJ trainings to anyone interested in the philosophy and practices.
Dr. Dixon's passion for RJ is evident, and he excels at blending his personal experiences in higher education with academic literature to provide a thorough understanding of philosophy, implementation, and execution. Thanks to his guidance, I was able to apply restorative justice practices at two different higher education institutions and witness firsthand the transformative power of these practices.
Even after my training, Dr. Dixon remained a valuable source of support and mentorship as I navigated the implementation of RJ at my institutions. As a proud advocate of restorative justice in student conduct and informal resolution within Title IX processes, I owe much of my success to Dr. Dixon's guidance and mentorship.
"I have had the pleasure of collaborating with Derrick Dixon since 2013, when we both worked in Student Affairs at the University of Mississippi. During our time together, we partnered on several innovative initiatives, including the Mock House Party program, which provided a groundbreaking approach to teaching risk and conflict management. Derrick’s expertise in mediation and conflict resolution was instrumental in helping stakeholders navigate challenging situations with clarity and respect.
Derrick’s ability to blend precision, empathy, and innovation in conflict resolution has always stood out. His new venture, The Grey Area Institute for Conflict Resolution, exemplifies his commitment to guiding individuals and organizations through the complexities of conflict and growth. Whether facilitating restorative justice, leading continuous improvement projects, or investigating complex organizational conflicts, Derrick’s work transforms challenges into opportunities for sustainable success.
I wholeheartedly recommend Derrick and the Grey Area Institute to anyone seeking expert guidance in conflict resolution, continuous improvement, or organizational development."
Dr. Derrick Dixon has been nothing short of an outstanding colleague, friend, and mentor who has always been a resource to me, especially when it comes to restorative practices.
His experiences at different types of institutions and his work separates him from those that specialize in the same area. He is a scholar practitioner that has done the work and has the academic credentials and publications to go with it. Anyone who has had the pleasure of working with or learning from him, always comes out better.
